My Top GDPR Resources

Hi there.

Are you concerned about the approach of GDPR? Do you feel unprepared? Well, guess what you’re not alone.

Let me start with a quick Wikipedia guide to What is GDPR?

At the moment I am in the middle of a course by FutureLearn called Understanding GDPR.  I have been very busy, therefore I now only have a few days within which to complete the course. If I am honest there are so many factors involved in what I have been learning that I still need to rely on other sources of information.

The intention of this blog is not to go into the intricacies of all the legislation surrounding GDPR, as each organisation/business is different and will need to establish what is applicable to them. What I can do is signpost you to websites/organisations that are better equipped with knowledge and expertise surrounding this.

At the top of my list for ‘must-reads’ is:

ICO and Getting ready for GDPR resources which includes a great deal of online information and an extremely useful 12- step guide. There is a dedicated telephone line for SMEs, which is probably very busy at the moment.

Next on my list is:

The Guardian and What are all these GDPR emails filling up your inbox? which is a straightforward spin on the implications of GDPR.

Third on my list is:

An article from IT Governance including a template for How to write a GDPR privacy policy notice.

Fourth is:

A source from one of the most popular marketers’ websites – An article and countdown from Hubspot.

Last but by no means least is:

A clear and concise video by Sarah Dixon of Spider Creative which I came across on Linkedin. Not only is the video helpful, but Sarah has also been extremely accommodating in the comments section too.

I am very grateful for all the information that is out there as I think this is a difficult matter to get to grips with. Right now, I am going to back to my course to see what else I can glean.

I hope that this has been of some use to you and hopefully help you prepare for May 25th.

If you have GDPR resources that you would like to share with others or want to comment on other business-related matters, remember you can connect with me on Twitter and on Facebook.

Thanks for reading.

Take care

Tricia
