The Best Christmas Marketing Campaigns

Hello there.

This time next month it will be Christmas Day.  Whether you agree with it or not, marketing is big business this time of year.  If it wasn’t then we wouldn’t see the likes of John Lewis, Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer and Waitrose, all plying for the top spot of best TV Christmas ad.

If you love the Christmas ads, then you probably have your own favourite and from a marketing point of view, they all offer the same feel-good factor. Cute children, toys bears, monsters to name a few. No stressed-out family members in sight. According to Campaign Sainsbury’s have ‘real’ folk in their ads. Really?

As a small business or entrepreneur, what can you learn from these ad campaigns? Well, if you haven’t already begun your marketing, then the bad news is that you should have started in September; the good news is that you have ages to think about your 2018 Christmas campaign.

If you’re not all about jumping on any bandwagons and like to offer great products and customer service, all year round then you’ll be fine.

If you do however want to know more about really good Christmas marketing campaigns, here’s a rundown of some sites you should check out. I’ve even thrown in a few articles from last year as brilliant marketing doesn’t have a sell-by date.

So here goes,

Hot off the press is a review of the ads by Campaign again!  They have even been considerate enough to have a link to all the ads, so you can sit and watch them and who knows you may have a killer Christmas campaign yourself next year!

A shop in Wales has created their own Christmas ad which Wales Online says is just as good as a John Lewis ad.  I must admit that I did like it. Have a look and let me know what you think.

By the way, a question for the eagle-eyed Enfield residents. Can you spot where some of this Matalan ad was filmed?  Blink and you’ll miss it though.

So, what are the keys to a good campaign? An oversimplified answer: Plan ahead and have fun.

Thanks for reading.

Take care,

Tricia

P.S Watch this space – I’ll be telling you about the successful Build.Blog.Boost Workshop which was held on November 17th.
